I. SUMMARY OF INCURSION
Stardate 58460.1
The USS Cerritos NCC-75567 was assigned to conduct updated scans of the time portal on planet Krulmuth-B, first discovered by an Orion science ship in the 23rd century. An away team of 4 junior officers led by Ensign Beckett Mariner were sent to the surface to conduct the scans. During the away mission the portal was inadvertently activated and Ensign Bradward Boimler and later Ensign Beckett Mariner were thrown back in time from 2381 stardate 58460.1 to 2260 stardate 2291.6. At the time of their arrival in the past the portal was being analyzed by an away team from the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under Captain Christopher Pike as part of a routine survey. With the assistance of Captain Pike and the crew of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 the two ensigns were later returned to their own time frame.
Temporal Displacement: 121 years, 2 months, 5 days
II. VIOLATIONS
Following interviews with the two above named officers as well as field observations of the events, it has been determined that the following violations of the Temporal Prime Directive occurred:
Ensign Boimler
Revealing future events to inhabitants of a past timeline
-Referring to Worf in the presence of Enterprise security chief Noonien-Singh
-Revealing to Pike that an officer on the Orion science ship, one Astrea Tendi is the great grandmother of one of his fellow officers, Ensign D’Vana Tendi
-Revealing to Pike and other Enterprise officers that Pikes birthday will be a celebrated holiday in the future
-Revealing details of Spocks future significance to Nurse Chapel
Attempting to alter future events
-Encouraging Enterprise crewmembers to throw a surprise party for Captain Pikes birthday
-Attempting to send a signal from the USS Enterprise to the Orion ship offering to trade the time portal back to the Orions in exchange for the tritriticale grain originally bound for Setlik II.
Ensign Mariner
Revealing future events to inhabitants of a past timeline
-Referring to a future time travel event in earshot of Enterprise officers
-Telling Enterprise first officer Una Chin-Riley about Boimlers recruitment poster featuring her likeness
-Revealing details of Uhuras future to Uhura
-Revealing to Pike that Boimler dressed up as him for Halloween
-Telling the Orion crew of the D’Var that in the future Onions will be serving in Starfleet, including Ensign D’Vana Tendi, great-granddaughter of an officer on the D’Var Astrea Tendi
Attempting to alter future events
-Introducing Orion Hurricanes (alcoholic cocktails) and Orion Delaq (an alcoholic beverage) to the Enterprise crew
-Attempting to send a signal from the USS Enterprise to the Orion ship offering to trade the time portal back to the Orions in exchange for the tritriticale grain originally bound for Setlik II.
III. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Potential contamination/damage to the timeline: minimal
Possible predestination: Boimlers incursion and subsequent events resulted in the Orions being given credit for the discovery of the time portal on planet Krulmuth-B. Historical records reflect that the portal was discovered in 2260 by the Orion science ship D’Var.
Due to this mitigating factor, the following violations of revealing future events to inhabitants of a past timeline:
Ensign Boimler
-Revealing to Pike that an officer on the Orion science ship Astrea Tendi is the great grandmother of one of his fellow officers, Ensign D’Vana Tendi
-and-
Ensign Mariner
-Telling the Orion crew of the D’Var that in the future Onions will be serving in Starfleet, including Ensign D’Vana Tendi, great-granddaughter of an officer on the D’Var Astrea Tendi
are dismissed.
Ensign Mariner’s violation of revealing details of Uhuras future to Uhura and Ensign Boimler’s violation of revealing Spock’s future importance to Nurse Chapel, while ill advised, were so vague that they were likely of no consequence.
For all remaining violations:
Ensign Boimler
Revealing future events to inhabitants of a past timeline
-Referencing Worf in the presence of Enterprise security chief Noonien-Singh
-Revealing to Pike and other Enterprise officers that Pikes birthday will be a celebrated holiday in the future
Attempting to alter future events
-Encouraging the Enterprise crewmembers to throw a surprise party for Pikes birthday
-Attempting to send a signal from the USS Enterprise to the Orion ship offering to trade the time portal back to the Orions in exchange for the tritriticale grain originally bound for Setlik II.
-and-
Ensign Mariner
Revealing future events to inhabitants of a past time frame
-Referring to a future time travel event in earshot of Enterprise officers
-Telling Una Chin-Riley about Boimlers recruitment poster featuring her likeness
-Revealing to Captain Pike that Boimler once dressed as him for Halloween
Attempting to alter future events
-Introducing Orion Hurricanes (alcoholic cocktails) and Orion Delaq (an alcoholic beverage) to the Enterprise crew
-Attempting to send a signal from the USS Enterprise to the Orion ship offering to trade the time portal back to the Orions in exchange for the tritriticale grain originally bound for Setlik II.
It is the recommendation of The Department of Temporal Investigations that each officer be issued a reprimand for violating the temporal prime directive [Revealing details of the future to inhabitants of a past time frame, attempting to alter future events].
In light of these events, it is the recommendation of The Department of Temporal Investigations that the time portal on Krulmuth-B be removed from the planet and relocated to a secure location to prevent its misuse and possible damage to the timeline.
This report is final.
This was a fun "what if" piece, specifically what if the Department of Temporal Investigations (Dulmer and Lucsly from DS9s "Trials and Tribble-ations") investigated the events of the Cerritos visit to the time portal on Krulmuth-B in SNW's "Those Old Scientists". The general idea is that DTI would investigate and submit this report, it would be forwarded to Mariner and Boimler's commanding officer (Captain Freeman) who would decide what actions if any to take.
