 Star Trek Timelines


"Timelines?! This is no time to argue about time! We don't have the time!"


This next post series is a set of timelines that I have created covering the different eras of the Star Trek universe.  Each timeline post will cover one generally agreed upon era of Trek history:

The TOS Era: from 2245-2269

Beginning with the launch of the legendary USS Enterprise NCC-1701 and covering the events of "The Cage", Discovery, Strange New Worlds, and The Original Series.  **As Star Trek Strange New Worlds is still being produced, as more information about those years is established those years will be upgraded.  Stay tuned.**


The TMP Era: from 2270-2293

The time period in which the first 6 Star Trek movies (the TOS movies) and the beginning of Generations take place.


The Lost Era: from 2294-2363

The mostly not seen years between the TOS movies and the beginning of The Next Generation.


The TNG Era: from 2364-2379

Covering the time period of TNG, DS9, VOY and the TNG movies.


The Late 24th Century: from 2380-2402

The events of Lower Decks, Prodigy and Picard.  99% of this timeline is events from these series.


The Mid 22nd Century: from 2150-2169

Then events of Enterprise, as well as beta canonical events of the Earth-Romulan war, the founding of the Federation, and the earliest years of the Federation



These timelines are comprised primarily of events from "alpha canon" (the TV shows and movies), followed by "beta canon" sources (licensed books, novels, comics, etc.), and finally my own head canon where needed to fill in any remaining blanks.

Starfleet Historical Files: Narendra III

From Starfleet Historical Files Filed Stardate 57262.1, February 2380 Lieutenant Aurelan Brand, Starfleet Diplomatic Corps Captain Rylen Sh'ross, Professor Emeritus, Starfleet History, Starfleet Academy An In Depth Re-Examination of the Battle of Narendra III The Battle The battle of Narendra III.  An oft overlooked yet pivotal moment in the annals of Federation history.  The year was 2344, Stardate 21096.4.  A flight of 4 A-type Romulan warbirds crossed the border into Klingon space and attacked the Klingon colony on Narendra III.  Although uncorroborated, sources inside the Romulan Empire have since indicated that the attack was a rogue operation, ordered by the then recently-deposed Praetor, Dralath.  Responding to a distress call from the colony the Starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C diverted from its patrol near the Archer system and moved to defend the colony.  What happened next is unclear, as there are no first-hand accounts from the battle.  W...

Star Trek Discovery Retrospective: Season 2

Season 2 Picking up from season 1’s cliffhanger ending (the arrival of the USS Enterprise) season 2 immediately jumps into a new world-ending, galaxy spanning threat story arc with the red signals, the red angel suit time travel stuff and later section 31/Control and the sphere data. With so much going on story wise it felt a bit incoherent to me. The dark tone of season 1 was eschewed in favor of a brighter feel and a bit more closeness with established canon. The seemingly fan-service opening of the premiere with the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under Captain Pike turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as the one good thing to come out of season 2 was Anson Mount as Captain Pike and ultimately Star Trek Strange New Worlds. That said the redesign (and obvious scale-up) of the classic USS Enterprise NCC-1701 to fit the modern Discovery aesthetic was another major point of consternation with the fandom.
